Sadhu Vaswani International School Kompally, Hyderabad, established in 2008, is one of the many educational institutions which the Sadhu Vaswani Mission started all over India. It is a progressive school based on Indian thought, culture, tradition and the educational ideals of Sadhu Vaswani. The school, run by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.
The aim of our school is to impart integrated and comprehensive education which is formative and not merely informative. It lays emphasis on the full development of the student’s character and personality which should normally lead them to self –fulfillment and dedicate themselves to the service of the society. Students are placed in an atmosphere that enables them to develop reverence for all prophets, seers and sages, all heroes of humanity, all races and religions. The school environment teaches them to understand the love of God and the essential unity of life.
Our school is a non-communal, non-sectarian institution which places emphasis on the permanent values of life as enunciated by ancient and modern thinkers.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education under the 10+2 scheme of education. It prepares students for the All India Secondary School (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate (Class XII) Examinations.
The school offers various activities to students in order to excel in various competencies viz. Chess, Badminton, Carom, Dance, Drama, Art and Craft, Gymnastics, Music-Vocal and Instrumental, Roller Skating, Public Speaking, Martial Arts, Yoga and Meditation, Gardening, Tennis, Table Tennis, Cricket, Basketball, and Athletics.
Trips, tours and trekking expeditions are organized during the school holidays with a view to develop a spirit of adventure and love of open air, giving students an insight into the variety, diversity and unity of our land. The school also organizes day long educational trips from time to time.
The school students are divided into four houses named as:
Each house is under charge of a House Mistress and has students as House Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects who are responsible for organization and discipline. All competitions in games and co-curricular activities are held on a ‘house’ basis. Each House is also allotted a colour. Rani Laxmi Bai is Red, Mirabai is Blue, Rabindranath Tagore is Green and Mahatma Gandhi is Yellow.
The house system forges bonds of loyalty, brings children of different age groups together, develops a better student-teacher relationship, encourages self- discipline and arouses greater team spirit.
School clubs are student based committees functioning with myriads of tasks, varying on the specific function of each respective club. St. Mira’s Educational Board was constituted in the year 1950 under the chairmanship of Maharishi D.K. Karve, who had watched the progress of the Mira Movement from its very inception. He had great appreciation for its ideals, and admiration for its revered Founder.
The high school at Pune was started on 1st March, 1950. Over the years, the Sadhu Vaswani Mission started educational institutions around India, notably in Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Rajkot and Baroda.
The Sadhu Vaswani Mission, A.P., has taken the lead to set up the next institution of Vaswani Mission at Kompally, Hyderabad. The child conviction and aim is to inculcate amongst children the 4 C’s - Compassion, Courage, Character and Culture, thus enabling every student passing out of the school to become an asset to humanity and pride to her/his parents.
Warm Greetings from Sadhu Vaswani International School.
It gives me immense pleasure to commute with you all through the Almanac of our School.
“Life is more important than livelihood”. This is what the little ones should be taught. Their tender brains are a fertile soil for the seeds of Love, Compassion, Character, Tolerance and Brotherhood to be sown. We are busy in educating our youth how to get fat salaries, higher chairs in the organizations but Alas! Very few are bothered in shaping the youth to become true human beings.
Modern education has sharpened the minds and brains of the children but blunted their hearts. It has made them competitive in nature and everyone is in a race to overtake the other by fair and even by unfair means. Sadhu Vaswani believed, “New India will not be made in the Rajya Sabha or Lok sabha but in the Schools and Colleges”.
All educational intituitions should aim to become industries which generate “HUMANS”, not merely human beings with certificates and degrees.
Welcome to the new Academic Year at Sadhu Vaswani International School, Hyderabad.
The World we live in today is the Epitome of Evolution in contrast to the one we were raised and educated in. During these ever changing times, we as educators, have to make sure that we are molding our children to be equipped with the skill-set to face the challenges ahead, to face a world-which will be transformed from what it is today.
Our school’s purpose is to educate the youth to take their productive place as leaders in the Global Community by offering our learners a comprehensive education. Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow and those leaders are seated in today’s classrooms. To nurture those leaders in our classrooms, we have to inculcate four key skills in our children- Critical Thinking, Research Mindset, Clear Communication and Good Leadership qualities.
We have to teach our children the core values of Empathy and Fearlessness. Our children should be committed towards Public Service and Nation Building. Our children should have scientific temperament grounded with the Spiritual Values.
While we continue our journey to reach greater heights in whatever we do with the faith and support provided by our valuable stakeholders, I would appeal to the parents to walk hand in hand with the school so that we are able to deliver the very best to our children. It has to be a collaborative effort of the students, parents and the school so that excellence in all spheres is attained and sustained.
In our journey together, let us move step-by-step from strength to strength.
A warm welcome to St. Mira’s Day Care Centre.
Taking care of little ones from the age of 18 months to 10 years, giving them all the love and tender care so that they do not miss their parents much. This is a quality of St. Mira’s Day Care Centre.
Our caretakers see that all the children feel at home, teaching them all that they ought to learn at that age in a homely and stress free atmosphere. All their needs both physical and mental are taken care of with love and dedication.
Apart from providing good ambience we at St. Mira’s believe that your children should also be kept safe and apart from which the caretakers also take care of their studies(if opted for learning care), food, adding some physical activity, arts and craft along with playtime or we let the child be happy as he or she desires. Keeping the safety of your children in mind, our caretakers drop the children home at the end of the day.
“Through humility and loving service, you can unlock the door of any heart” said Dada J.P. Vaswani. This is what we try to do and implement at our Day Care.
Worthwhile journey from 2008 to now for which I thank all my parents for their co-operation and who without second thought place their ‘bundle of joy’ with faith at St. Mira’s Day Care Centre.
A conscientious effort is made to inculcate in the child love and care for trees, animals, fruits and flowers. The comprehensive activity schedule entails learning of reading, writing and number skills in an interesting manner; both inside and outside the classroom; leveraging the best teachers with what they have to offer, as well as technology (what computers and the latest educational software has to offer).
For an all-round development in the child’s personality, besides imparting education of the highest quality, the school provides a holistic education through training of the head, heart and the hand, providing your loved ones ample opportunity to engage in a wide range of learning activities for self growth. The thrust is to inculcate a positive approach towards life, perseverance, a spirit of cooperation, coordination and sportsmanship.
A spectrum of activities is offered to cater to the palate of the young minds, that include drawing, painting, colouring, clay-work, craft, origami, papier-mâché, games, races, hurdles, sports, physical training, yoga, karate, music, elocution, dancing, dramatization, story-reading, nature ramble, and pet-care.
SVIS, Hyderabad is a school with a difference. The atmosphere enables students to inculcate reverence for humanity. A sanctuary is an important and integral part of the schools run under the banner of Sadhu Vaswani Mission. Sanctuary to SVIS is what a flame is to the moth, the sun to the sunflower and a breath of fresh air to a drowning man.
The sanctuary is the first session in school everyday. All the students of the school gather together and offer non sectarian, universal prayers to the almighty. They sing prayers that revere the universal and fundamental aspects in every religion. Everyday some enlightening talk is given to the children
The topics chosen for such talks are graded according to the level of the students. Talks on simple values like truth and honesty, anger and contentment, service and prayer right up to complex ideas like the universal form of God, duality and non- duality, knower and the known, the laws of nature, the law of Karma are touched upon.
Pictures of great philosophers from East and West and illustrated posters giving noble thoughts of great ones adorn the walls of the school and thus great values and ideals surround the students, which have a positive effect during their growing period.
“Simple living and high thinking should be the driving force for every student.” This is what is emphasized at SVIS." The sanctuary therefore, is what makes SVIS unique.
